A package arrived today from Bailey over at The Nennth Inning. Bailey won a contest here awhile back and honestly I think that is the last time we really exchanged emails. I was not expecting the package so either I forgot about a trade we have pending or Bailey just sent over some Redbirds out of the kindness of his Giant loving heart. Either way, I am certain we will get it worked out and sorry in advance Bailey if I forgot about a pending swap!
Ahhhh, the 1991 Score, in all its canary yellow goodness. Doesn’t that sucker bring back some memories? Great card for the Wizard collection. Speaking of bringing back memories, how bout that Sutter card? The bush man beard is in full swing and those great blue uniforms…. Classic! Thanks for the package Bailey – good stuff!
Without further hesitation let’s see who won the first Trading Buddies Giveaway here at Boxbusters! What I decided to do was use Random.org to select the winner. I compiled the list of buddies and “randomized” the list i entered then randomized it 8 times. Why 8 you ask? Well 24 is my favorite number so instead of doing it 24 times I went with 2 x 4 = 8.
Congratulations Bailey! Kind of fitting you won considering you were the only one to suggest an idea for the drawing. Please email me your address and I will get your prize out asap.
Ok I think I have figured out how I am gonna do the giveaway. Everyone currently listed has a specific team listed by their name. Every team is unique so I was thinking……. I can just grab a card from each team and put them all in a stack. I will shuffle the stack multiple times and then someone other than myself will draw a card from the stack. Whoever gets their “team” pulled is the winner. The prize will include cards of whatever it is you collect and we will do the drawing this weekend. So, if your not currently listed but would like to be let me know BEFORE SATURDAY.
As promised, I am gearing up towards a trading buddies giveaway of some sort. I am hoping to get this going in the next week. If you are not currently listed as a trading buddy but would like to be NOW IS THE TIME. Drop me a line and we’ll get you setup. Remember, you must have completed a least one trade with boxbusters to get listed. Any questions please let me know.
Today a package arrived from Brad over at Rickey Henderson Collectibles. Brad sent a great package that included about 50 cards. If you have never visited RHC, check it out. Brad is more thank willing to do some trading and is listed as a Trading Buddy here. Most of the cards Brad sent I needed and best of all some of them I had never seen before. Since I was not really collecting in the mid 90’s I had never really seen the Pacific, Pinnacle or Aurora cards before. There are also two Ozzie cards I had never knew existed, one being the tiny 1992 Donruss card and the other being this weird Topps card….
I saw weird because its obviously The Wizard on the front, but check out the back of this bad boy:
See what I mean? Mark Davis? Huh? Yeah weird, like I said! If someone knows the reasoning behind this one please let me know.
Here are a few of my other favorites from the package:
I really like the reprint Bob Gibson card. I mean I don’t know how you could not enjoy that card but I won’t get in to that here. The Pujols Bazooka comic card is a first for me as well, I never knew these things existed. What exactly are these things printed on anyway does anyone know? It feels like it would evaporate if it got wet but its a pretty cool lil card. I also really enjoy the Victory card of Rick Ankiel. Any card of Rick when he was pitching is cool. Thanks again Brad for the great send and keep an eye out for your return package – it was mailed out today.

As most of you know I recently launched a “Trading Buddies” program here at Boxbusters. In order to become a “buddy” one must successfully complete a trade with yours truly and request to be part of the program. Once you are added, you will be listed on the Trading Buddies page and this allows others to easily view your needs or wants and contact you if they choose to do so. I mentioned at the start of the program that I would be doing some sort of rewards for people involved and have decided to hold the first Boxbusters Trading Buddies Giveaway!
The way we will do this is pretty simple. If you are in the program you will be assigned a random number. I will hold some sort of drawing to select the winner from these numbers. I have not yet decided for sure how I will do this but rest assured I will figure out a way to show you the process.
The deadline for entry for this giveaway will be Monday, December 1st 2008. If you are not listed as a friend by this time then you will not be allowed in to this drawing. The prize will be winners choice from some cards I have yet to decide upon…….
It may be some AUTOS or RELICS.
It may be a bunch of cards of your favorite team/player.
It may be a bunch of junk that is a complete waste of your time.
It will be FREE CARDS.
Sound like fun? If you have any questions or concerns as always be sure to let me know. If you would like more information on the trading buddies program please visit the FAQ on the Trading Buddies page.
The new Trading Buddies program at Boxbusters is now LIVE!! To access the list simply click on the Trading Buddies link on the right hand side of the page. Here you will find SAFE and RELIABLE collectors to trade with through the mail. Every person listed has completed at least one successful trade with yours truly and chances are they have completed numerous trades with several collectors out there. If you have any questions or concerns drop me a line and I hope you enjoy the new Trading Buddies program!
