Matt Holliday announced today on ESPN radio that he will be returning to the St. Louis Cardinals. No contract has been signed , but player and club have agreed to terms. Finalization of the deal is pending a physical exam. He said that the guaranteed value of the contract is $119 or $120 million.

The deal is said to run through 2016 and would give Holliday the longest current guarantee of any Cardinals player. Another interesting note, this would be the biggest contract in Cardinals history, including Albert Pujols’ seven year, $100 million dollar contract.  The team is supposed to make a formal announcement within 48 hours.
