See, I posted in the Beckett forums a couple weeks ago when I was giving away THE ENTIRE BOX of cards TRISTAR sent over…. and went there last week to post and could not login. I reset my password 3 times and emailed support twice regarding the issue and never heard anything back.
Well wouldn’t you know today I got a response from Customer Service at dear old Beckett Media. It reads as follows:
Thank you for your email. Our records show that your account was suspended for running a free box promotion on the boards to get people to come over to your site. That is why you are unable to login to Beckett.com.

Nice. So I get a free sponsored box of product and get “punished” by Beckett because I wanted to give the product away to you guys and gals – the people that actually BUY and COLLECT the product. I don’t know call me crazy but that doesn’t seem like something the “#1 Source” in the hobby should do to it’s fellow collectors and the people who help support their company. What do you think? I for one will be canceling my subscription and will no longer support this company in any way shape or fashion. Oh and BTW, in case you were wondering I did the same thing at Tuff Stuff on their forums and DID NOT get banned.

Un F@$*&ing believable. Scratch that. Totally believable.
Once again Beckett exists to serve theri best interest and not the collectors who put them where they are today.
I was kinda of indifferent about Beckett before but now I completely agree Beckett sucks. In a business aspect it make no sense to anger your most passionate customers/ the influencers. It is yet another company who doesn’t understand blogging/ social media.
I got back to collecting because of baseball blogs like wax heaven, bad wax, and yours and I really believe if baseball/ collectible cards were to have a future is it because of the blogs and social networks.
Rant over.
Well, it’s clear. You’re obviously a terrible person. Why would you want to giveaway a free product of baseball card to its collectors?
Wow, if that’s not a stinking load of crap, I don’t know what is.
So basically, they are allowed to market themselves (unsuccessfully) by any means necessary, but god forbid you try and market yourself. I understand you were just trying to give away free cards, which is noble and awesome, but it’s still marketing. Not that I have a problem with that at all, everyone needs exposure.
Oh, and nice use of alliteration in the post title.
That is complete BS!!
Thanks for the support guys.
I got into collecting baseball cards beacause of baseball cards and other collectors. Not because of Beckett magazine, they can go F@#$ themselves. You at Beckett are not more important than the community of collectors itself.
Bloggers unite!
Ross,
Feel free to tell about your giveaways on CardInformant.com. We may not have a huge crowd of message board posters, but the site is growing daily and traffic is way up compared to other sites.

that’s just appalling.
Thanks Bill – Ill check it out for sure.
Tuff Stuff is top notch and their magazine is better than Beckett’s too!
