Cardinals Prepare for Arbitration

For the first time in a decade the St. Louis Cardinals will be heading to an arbitration hearing on Thursday. Ankiel asked the club for $3.3 million and the Cardinals countered with a $2.35 million offer. Ankeil is represented by Scott Boras and most figure the settlement will be around $2.85 million.

The Cardinals are also facing arbitration with Ryan Ludwick on Feb. 17th if a settlement can not be reached before then. Ludwick asked the club for $4.25 million and the Cardinals countered with $2.8 million.  That difference of $1.45 million is the sixth largest out of the 46 players that numbers were submitted for this off season.
