I was on the take for this product ever since I read about the Grifey Auto inserts. I think that is a great insert to celebrate the 20 years and would love to pull one. Judging from this box though, I may be better off just buying one. Anyway as usual we’ll take a look at the base card first.

Not bad. Not bad at all IMO. So far I am really enjoying the photography on these cards. There are some really great action shots and some that are just plain fun. I like the design overall and will more than likely attempt to complete the base set.
Next up we have the 20th Anniversary Retrospective cards. This is a 2,500 card set that I have no interest in going after.
I mean maybe if it was a smaller set like 250 or something but 2500?
No thanks.
Up next we have the Team USA inserts. These I could also do without. Isn’t there a Team USA set anyway? Leave ‘em there then, maybe?
Now we’ll take a look at the Team Leaders cards. I pulled 17 of these.
Not bad, I like the clean cut design of these cards and having the bottom “border” the team color is great.
Another insert that isn’t too shabby is the O-Pee-Chee. I pulled two from this box.

The Historic First inserts are another batch I think we could do without. I really don’t see the point of some of these cards. I mean like the ”predictors” and such. Seriously, do you think I want a card that predicts the DOW will reach 15,000 points? If you do, could you explain why you would think that please? As for the 2008 Documentary Inserts, these are necessary I feel. Documenting the WS and other “updates” should be a priortiy over cards that predict when we will find life on another planet.
Up next we’ll cover the Rivals inserts. I think this is a pretty cool idea. I am not to thrilled about seeing a Cubs/Whitesox one, being a Cardinal fan I would much rather see a Cubs/Cardinals version.
Last but not least we have our lone “HIT” from the box. One chipped triple swatch of Rafael Furcal. See the top on the front? Not a major chip but it is there.

I think this is a pretty sweet looking card. Yes it has the plain white swatches but overall I think its pretty nice. I like how the top half is “spliced” and the bottom border just ties it all together. Overall, I enjoy these cards and will more than likely attempt to complete the base set. One word of warning however, it appears I am not the only one to come across a coalation problem. There have been comments left at WaxHeaven that would suggest this may be more than a random dud.

I am going to try and put the 20th anniversary set together and am looking for help. Would you be willing to trade for ones you pull this year and if so what would you be looking for?
Thanks
Ill send you what I have Rob. I have already sent a few out but I don’t plan on going after the set.
